July 9 (SeeNews) - China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) expects to sign in September a financial agreement for the construction of a motorway linking Preljina to Pozega, in central Serbia, the vice-president of the company, Sun Ziyu, said.
CCCC aims to sign an agreement on the financial conditions for the construction of the motorway and is ready to participate in other projects in Serbia, Ziyu said on Friday, according to a press release issued by Serbia's infrastructure ministry.
"It is very important for the government of Serbia to start works on the construction of the Preljina-Pozega motorway, 30.9 km long, for which a commercial agreement has been signed, as well as the development of the project and technical documentation for the Pozega-Boljare section," Serbian infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said.
Ziyu and Mihajlovic met on the sidelines of the seventh summit of heads of government of China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC), also known as the 16+1 format, which too place in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on July 6 and 7.
The Serbian infrastructure ministry signed in March a memorandum of understanding with CCCC for the construction of the 107 km-long Pozega-Boljare motorway section. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a subsidiary of CCCC, will be in charge of preparing the project documentation - an assignment with an estimated cost of 50 million euro ($58.8 million).
The motorway is part of pan-European Corridor XI - a motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade, of which 103 km are planned to be completed this year.
