July 11 (SeeNews) - Total revenues from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose by an annual 2.8% in May, reaching 61.5 million levs ($35.8 million/31.4 million euro), the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals increased by 4.8% year-on-year in May, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists grew by 1.0%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose 3.0% on the year to 1.3 million in May.
The largest increase in the number of overnights, by 4.2%, was registered by four and three-star hotels, which serviced 14.5% of the total number of overnights of international visitors and 31.7% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
A total of 503,540 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in May, down 6% year-on-year, of whom 45.6% were foreign nationals.
