February 22 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian ceramic products manufacturer Izida-1894 is investing 14 million levs ($7.63 million/7.16 million euro) in a project for introduction of new production processes at its ceramic tiles plant in Elin Pelin municipality, InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) said.
With the investment, the company will buy an automated production line, allowing it to manufacture its own ceramic tiles and export to Romania, Greece and Serbia, the government agency said in a statement on Monday. The project will create 100 jobs at Izida-1894's factory in Elin Pelin, near Sofia.
Until now, Izida-1894 has been buying ceramic tiles from other producers, which it rectifies, making them straight and even. Following the investment, the company's ceramics production will reach 9,000 sq.m. per day, with new processes introduced, such as pressing, glazing, firing and packing.
The new equipment will also help avoid transportation costs and keep the company's production local. The investment aims to boost efficiency and profitability by increasing labour productivity, introducing new management practices and optimizing wages, according to the statement.
Izida-1894 is wholly owned by local company Assets Management.
