September 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian aluminium products manufacturer Alcomet [BUL:ALCM] said on Thursday that it put into operation a new facility for processing of aluminium profiles following an investment of 13.5 million levs ($8.1 million/6.9 million euro).
The new equipment will enable the company to produce aluminium components for electric cars, Alcomet said in a bourse filing.
The new facility spreads on 4,100 sq m and employs 30 people. The company expects to hire more employees there in the future.
Currently, the company is engaged in the prototype and pre-series production of the respective components under already agreed projects. Serial production will start in 2022, the company added.
Such products can be used not only in the automotive industry, but also in construction and architecture, mechanical engineering, renewable energy production and other sectors, Alcomet noted.
In 2019, Alcomet launched a new aluminium profiles production facility and said it is aiming to enter the automotive parts industry.
As at 11:35 CET on Thursday, shares in Alcomet traded flat at a price of 9.15 levs on the floor of the Sofia bourse.
Alcomet produces household, technical and container foils, finstock, sheets and strips, as well as standard and customized profiles. The company exports over 90% of its output.
