August 4 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian government gave the green light for the delivery to Ukraine of armoured vehicles not used by the Bulgarian police force, public radio BNR reported on Friday.
The government in Sofia approved a draft agreement between the ministry of the interior and the Ukrainian defence ministry for the delivery of the armoured vehicles authorised the minister of the interior to sign it, BNR said.
The Bulgarian parliament in late July approved a decision to provide to Ukraine additional military aid in the form of Soviet-made armoured vehicles no longer needed by the police force, together with the armament available for it as well as spare parts. The rationale for the decision is that in the last 25 years, costs have been incurred for the maintenance and storage of the equipment that's no longer needed by the National Gendarmerie force.
Around 100 armoured vehicles will be made available to Ukraine under the decision, local media has reported.
