March 31 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government said on Tuesday that it is interested in buying 30,000 PCR tests per month from South Korea, in relation to its plans to start mass testing for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

South Korea will shortly inform Bulgaria of the available quantities and time for their delivery, the government in Sofia said following a phone call between prime minister Boyko Borissov and South Korea's president Moon Jae-in.

Last week, Boyko Borissov announced that the country has ordered 600,000 PCR tests and 400,000 rapid tests, which will be delivered by the European Commission.

There were 379 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease in Bulgaria as of Tuesday.

The first coronavirus case in Bulgaria was detected on March 8. The country is currently in a state of emergency due to the virus.
