May 4 (SeeNews) - Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said it plans to build six photovoltaic (PV) power plants with a combined capacity of 62 MW in the city of Zivinice, an investment worth about 85 milion marka ($48.1 million/43.5 million euro).
Elektroprivreda BiH intends to build the solar power plants at a degraded mine landfill site owned by its coal mining unit Djurdjevik, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
The solar power plants are expected to produce 90 GWh of electricity per year.
Elektroprivreda BiH will fund the project through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Admir Andelija, the company's director, said in the statement.
Elektroprivreda BiH, Bosnia's largest power utility, is based in the Federation entity. Elektroprivreda RS is the power utility of the Serb Republic.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
