August 27 (SeeNews) - Bosnian electricity distribution company Elektro-Bijeljina has signed a 15 million marka ($8.5 million/7.7 million euro) deal with local consortium Telegroup and Partners for the supply of equipment for a power grid overhaul, the Serb Republic's energy ministry said.
In particular, Elektro-Bijeljina will carry out repair works on the medium- and low-voltage network it operates in the northeastern municipality of Bijeljina located in the Serb Republic, the entity's energy ministry said in a statement last week.
The project worth 22.5 million marka will be financed through a 15 million marka loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the ministry said. Elektro-Bijeljina is expected to contribute the remaining 7.5 million marka from its own funds.
Elektro-Bijeljina is part of state-controlled power utility firm Elektroprivreda RS, which is active in the Serb Republic, one of Bosnia's two constituent entities. The other entity is the Federation.
