- Bosnia’s sole aluminium smelter and major exporter Aluminij on Tuesday began to return to operating at full capacity after cutting production in December due to the global crisis, Aluminij’s director for technology and development, Velimir Cavar, said, adding the process will last two months and will need a significant investment. He said he expects output to rise by 7,000 tonnes of prime aluminium by the end of the year and production to exceed 30,000 tonnes in 2010.
- Bosnian cigarette factory Fabrika Duhana Mostar (FDM) has completely halted production until a new attempt for its privatisation is made because a partner from Dubai, for which the factory produced a certain amount of cigarettes, has frozen the cooperation deal, FDM’s director, Bakir Pekusic, said. The government of Bosnia’s Muslim-Croat Federation launched earlier this year a process of canceling the sale of FDM to Bulgaria’s Pazardzhik BT but the procedure has not been completed yet.
