November 2 (SeeNews) - Belgrade airport operator Aerodrom Nikola Tesla [BEL:AERO] has assumed the handling services of flag carrier Air Serbia as of November 1, trade union Sloga Aerodrom Nikola Tesla said.
A total of 340 employees of Air Serbia's handling unit were transferred to Aerodrom Nikola Tesla as part of the efforts of the flag carrier to improve its services, Sloga Aerodrom Nikola Tesla said in a statement on Wednesday.
The rising passenger traffic at Belgrade airport makes handling services more and more demanding, the trade union said.
Belgrade airport handled 4.15 million passengers in the first nine months of 2017, up 9% year-on-year,
The trade union welcomed the decision, which allows employees engaged in Air Serbia's handling services to be covered by the collective labour agreement of Nikola Tesla airport.
The Serbian government owns 83.1% of Aerodrom Nikola Tesla and 51% of Air Serbia. UAE-based Etihad Airways controls a 49% stake in the capital of Air Serbia.
