TIRANA (Albania), September 17 (SeeNews) – Albania’s parliament endorsed late on Thursday a government reshuffle involving the economy and foreign ministers.
Parliament approved a presidential decree on the changes in the centre-right government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha, the legislature said in a statement after a sitting on Thursday.
Acting on the proposal of the junior coalition partner, the Socialist Integration Movement (LSI), Berisha on Monday replaced Economy Minister Dritan Prifti, an LSI member, with Foreign Minister Ilir Meta, who heads the LSI.
Meta is also deputy prime minister.
Berisha appointed Edmond Haxhinasto, also LSI member, as foreign minister. Haxhinasto has so far served as deputy minister of public affairs and transport.
Berisha’s Democratic Party (PD) formed a coalition government in alliance with LSI after the 2009 general elections.
