TIRANA (Albania), February 18 (SeeNews) – Albania's trade deficit decreased by 5.2% year-on-year in January, to 20 billion leks ($180.5 million/159.8 million euro), the national statistical office said on Monday.
Exports fell 7.3% to 22 billion leks in the period under review, while imports decreased 6.3% to 42 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the January, absorbing Albanian exports of 12.2 billion leks and providing imports to the country of 10.1 billion leks. Other major importers into Albania were China, Greece, Turkey and Germany.
Albania exported mainly textiles and footwear, minerals, fuels, electricity and construction materials and metals.
