December 28 (SeeNews) - Albania's trade deficit increased 13.4% year-on-year to 301.6 billion leks ($2.32 billion/2.22 billion euro) in the first eleven months of 2016, the statistical office, INSTAT, said on Wednesday.
Exports edged down 1.65% on the year to 221.6 billion leks, whereas imports increased 6.48% to 523.3 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement.
In November alone, exports grew 17.4% on the year to 22.9 billion leks, while imports edged up 0.6% to 49.3 billion leks.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the first eleven months of 2016.
Albania exported mainly textiles, footwear, minerals and fuels, and construction materials. The country imported predominantly machinery, equipment and spare parts, as well as food, beverages and tobacco.
