November 22 (SeeNews) - Albania's trade deficit rose by 24.8% year-on-year in the ten months through October, reaching 333 billion leks ($3.1 billion/2.7 billion euro), the national statistical office said on Monday.
Exports rose 35.2% on the year to 300 billion leks in the period under review, while imports increased 29.5% to 632 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement.
In October alone, Albania's trade deficit totalled 43 billion leks, up 31.6% year-on-year.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the January-October period, absorbing Albanian exports worth 125.4 billion leks and providing 155.6 billion leks worth of imports to the country.
Albania exported mainly textile and footwear, construction materials and metals as well as minerals, fuels, electricity in the first ten months of 2021.
