March 1 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased 9.07% year-on-year in January, reaching 1.5 billion leks ($14.5 million/12.0 million euro), official figures show.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance added 9.83% to 1.4 billion leks in January, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 94.4 million leks, down 1.09%, according to figures published by the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) last week.
Total gross claims paid fell to 540.7 million leks in the review period from 751.7 million leks in January 2020.
In 2020, the insurers' gross written premiums decreased by 5.73% compared with 2019, to 16.6 billion leks.
The statistics comprises data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
