November 29 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers increased by 16.5% year-on-year in the ten months through October, reaching 15.7 billion leks ($146.5 million/129.4 million euro), official figures showed.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance added 15.7% on the year to 14.6 billion leks in the January – October period, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 1.15 million leks, up 24.5%, according to figures published by the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA).
Total gross claims paid fell to 5.6 billion leks in the review period from 6.2 billion leks in January-October 2020.
In 2020, the insurers' gross written premiums decreased by 5.73% compared to 2019, to 16.6 billion leks. The statistics comprise data for eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
