January 11 (SeeNews) - The Albanian Gas Service Company, which is in charge of the maintenance of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on Albanian territory, said on Thursday it has opened a tender for a technical evaluation of the pipeline with an estimated budget of 60.7 million leks ($642,526/584,730 euro).
The evaluation is part of TAP’s maintenance plan for its gas transmission infrastructure in Albania, the Albanian Gas Service Company said in a tender notice. It should be completed by September 2025.
Offers can be submitted until February 12.
Connecting with Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek border with Turkey, TAP stretches 878 kilometres across northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before reaching southern Italy's coast. TAP, which carries natural gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea to markets in Europe, is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which also comprises the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) crossing Azerbaijan and Georgia, and TANAP.
The Albanian government holds 75% of the Albanian Gas Service Company. The remaining stake is controlled by Italian state-owned energy infrastructure company Snam, according to the Albanian business register.
