September 30 (SeeNews) - Albania's central bank said on Wednesday it has sold at an auction on Tuesday 24.2 billion leks ($262.6 million/179.7 million euro) in three-month and 12-month Treasury bills, as yields rose.
The central bank, which auctions government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry, sold the entire offer of 13.2 billion leks in three-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 13.31 billion leks. The T-bills produced a weighted average yield of 6.36%, up from 6.34% achieved in the previous auction held on September 1.
The bank sold the entire offer of 11 billion leks worth of 12-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 13.686 billion leks. Yields edged up to 9.40%, from 9.36% in the previous auction held on September 15.
The Bank of Albania has auctioned Treasury bills worth 300 billion leks since the beginning of the year. It auctioned T-bills worth 373 billion leks in par value last year, compared to 386.83 billion leks in 2007.
