October 16 (SeeNews) - Albania's central bank said on Friday it sold at an auction on Tuesday 13.5 billion leks ($146.5 million/98.2 million euro) in six-month and 12-month treasury bills as yields were mixed.
The central bank, which auctions government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry, offered and sold 8.2 billion leks in six-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids for the amount on offer. The T-bills produced a weighted average yield of 7.69%, down from 7.7% achieved in the previous auction held on September 15.
The bank sold the entire offer of 5.3 billion leks worth of 12-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 10.2 billion leks. Yields edged up to 9.41%, from 9.40% in the previous auction held on September 29.
The Bank of Albania has auctioned Treasury bills worth 314.42 billion leks since the beginning of the year. It auctioned T-bills worth 373 billion leks in par value last year, compared to 386.83 billion leks in 2007.
