July 24 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia said on Monday it carried 1.12 million passengers in the first half of 2017, up 3.0% on the year.
Available seat kilometres (ASK) rose to 1.93 billion at the end of the first half of 2017, an increase of 16% year-on-year, while the average load factor grew by 3 percentage points to 70.5%, the company said in a statement.
The cargo traffic handled by Air Serbia soared 54.6% year-on-year to 2,988 tonnes in the first half.
"Our operational performance in H1 has been strong across the board, with passenger numbers and cargo volumes both rising since last year", Dane Kondic, chief executive officer of Air Serbia, said. "We continued to introduce new products and services during this time by reconfiguring our narrow-body Airbus fleet with new seats and upgrading our sales, boarding and check-in systems to Sabre".
Air Serbia’s move to the Sabre platform in H1 2017 was the latest technological innovation aimed at further improving the guest experience, including the introduction of Wi-Fly, an inflight internet connectivity service on the airline’s narrow-body Airbus fleet.
The airline introduced the Belgrade – Venice route in June with four weekly rotations to the Italian city. It also marked its first anniversary of transatlantic flights to New York and established a codeshare partnership with AtlasGlobal.
Last year, Air Serbia carried 2.62 million passengers, up 3%, and operated 33,171 services, including 1,213 in the summer months under its charter brand Aviolet.
