BELGRADE (Serbia), August 5 (SeeNews) – Flag carrier Air Serbia has started operating a flight linking Hungary's capital Budapest to Konstantin Veliki airport in Nis, in eastern Serbia, the Budapest Airport said.
The first direct flight between Budapest and Nis took off on August 2 and will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, Budapest Airport said in a statement on Friday.
"Nis as a jewel of the Balkans is an excellent destination, and we are delighted to link Budapest with another neighboring country now, contributing to the development of our ties with the countries around us in terms of economy, education, and tourism," Kam Jandu, chief commercial officer of Budapest Airport, said.
Air Serbia will operate the flight with an Airbus A319 aircraft with 144 seats, the Budapest Airport noted.
Air Serbia started operations from the Konstantin Veliki airport in Nis, in the east of the country, on July 15. In the period between July 15 and 17, the company launched flights from Nis to Bologna, Hannover, Tivat, Gothenburg and Frankfurt-Hahn. In the first three days of August, operations to Ljubljana, Budapest, Friedrichshafen, Salzburg, Rome and Karlsruhe will be launched, the flag carrier said last month.
