CHISINAU (Moldova), October 9 (SeeNews) – Moldovan flag air carrier Air Moldova will launch flights from the Moldovan capital Chisinau to the Italian city of Milan on October 16 as part of its expansion to Europe, the company said on Tuesday.
"This major expansion to Italy is part of Air Moldova's positioning strategy in the markets of Russia, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Austria and Portugal, and will strengthen the company's leading position in Moldova," Air Moldova said in a statement.
Air Moldova will fly to its latest destination twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, with an Airbus A320. The company will conduct the flights jointly with Italian air carrier Meridiana which currently operates Chisinau-Verona flights.
Air Moldova is the largest air carrier in the country of four million people. It had a 54% share in the total number of passengers transported by air in Moldova through August.
