October 31 (SeeNews) - Romanian branch of Dutch insurer Aegon said on Monday its gross written premiums (GWP) rose 8.2% on the year to 76.7 million lei ($15.5 million/15.6 million euro) in the first half of 2022.
The company's results are in line with the development of the local insurance market, Aegon Romania said in a press release.
The increase was due to Romanians' growing concern for health and safety amid the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the insurer added.
"Even though the pandemic is no longer so present, health concerns remain high, and this is also reflected in our results for the first half of this year," said CEO of Aegon Romania, Sinziana Maioreanu.
Aegon Romania was established in 2007, as part of the Dutch insurance group Aegon. The company has a market share of 4.3% and serves more than 1 million customers.
