Romania posts EU's highest annual inflation in May

June 18 (SeeNews) - Romania recorded the EU's highest annual inflation rate in May, at 5.8%, while Croatia ranked third with 4.3%, the EU's statistical office said on Tuesday.

In monthly comparison terms, Slovenia's consumer prices increased the most among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE) last month, by 0.4%, Eurostat said in a data release.

In contrast, Greece posted the sole monthly decline in consumer prices among EU members in SEE, at 0.3%, while the EU as a whole recorded a monthly inflation of 0.2%.

Greece also registered the lowest annual inflation in the SEE region in May, at 2.4%, below the EU average of 2.7%.
