The programme offers collaboration opportunities with leading energy companies, business and technical consulting, and access to venture capital funds, Romania’s energy ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Interested startups may apply for inclusion in the accelerator until September 19.

The accelerator covers cleantech verticals ranging from digital and smart solutions to cybersecurity projects for energy infrastructure, along with an open category for other areas of interest.

“We endorse innovative technologies that lower energy expenses, enhance efficiency, decrease greenhouse gas outputs, generate employment, and bolster market competitiveness," Romanian energy minister Sebastian Burduja was quoted as saying on the accelerator’s webpage.

The programme was also developed in partnership with major national energy companies, European technology suppliers, and leading investors. Partners include Romgaz, Hidroelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, Energy Valley Cluster, Transelectrica, UiPath, Electrica, Israel Electric Corporation, Transgaz, Conpet, ELCEN, Complexele Energetic Oltenia si Valea Jiului, and Societatea de Administrare a Participațiilor in Energie.

Techcelerator is a deep tech seed accelerator established in Romania in 2018 and backed by GapMinder VC, a 45 million euro ($49 million) fund. Having raised 13.5 million euro since 2018 and boasting an 84% survival rate for its portfolio, Techcelerator aims to become Southeastern Europe's premier choice for investment partnerships.
