EU member states in SEE drop in IMD competitiveness ranking

June 18 (SeeNews) - The EU member states in Southeast Europe - Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia - performed worse than a year earlier in the World Competitiveness Rankings compiled by Swiss-based business school Institute for Management Development (IMD), it said Tuesday.

Singapore is the most competitive economy in the world, followed by Switzerland and Denmark, while Venezuela trails the list, the ranking of 67 economies shows.

At 46th spot, four places down from a year earlier, Slovenia is the top performer among the four EU member states in Southeast Europe.

Croatia fell one spot from last year to the 51st position.

Romania lost two spots to the 50th position.

Bulgaria ended 58th, one place lower compared to a year earlier.

The IMD World Competitiveness Center, a research group at IMD business school, has been publishing the rankings since 1989. The final score for each country is computed by using the perceptions of executives together with statistical data.

Following are the rankings of EU member states in SEE in the 2024 edition of IMD World Competitiveness Rankings:
