EU, Germany's KfW back financially Tirana green transport project

December 28 (SeeNews) - The Albanian government signed an agreement with the German state-owned development bank KfW envisaging a 50 million euro ($55.6 million) loan to finance a green transport project in the capital Tirana co-financed by the European Union, the Albanian finance ministry said on Thursday.

The project, which will see the first electric buses service three public transport lines by 2029, is estimated to cost 110.37 million euro, the ministry said in a press release.

The EU will provide a 31.2 million euro grant towards the project via the Investment Fund for the Western Balkans (WBIF), and the municipality of Tirana will cover the remainder.
