The benchmark index was supported by a 9.01% surge in First Investment Bank, or Fibank, [BUL:FIB] to 4.84 levs and a 4.76% jump in diversified group Chimimport [BUL:CHIM] to 0.77 levs.

The two companies also propelled the BGBX40, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, and the BGTR30, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight. Both indices were additionally helped by a 4.29% climb in Central Cooperative Bank [BUL:CCB] to 1.70 levs.

Overall, the BGBX40 index grew by 0.59% to 172.93 points, while the BGTR30 ended the session 0.82% higher at 867.48 points.

A 0.29% rise in Advance Terrafund REIT [BUL:ATER] to 3.40 levs spurred on the BGREIT. The index, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, edged up 0.06% to 191.16 points.

Finally, the BEAMX index, which tracks the ten most highly capitalised growth companies, advanced by 0.20% to 99.76 points. Its top performer was biometric identification security systems developer Biodit [BUL:BDT], which added 3.20% to 1.29 levs.

Total turnover on the main market of the BSE soared to a little over 10.34 million levs ($5.74 million/5.29 million euro) on Tuesday from 643,589 levs on Monday, mostly due to bond trading.

Fibank was the most liquid stock of the day, having generated 867,744 levs as 179,286 shares changed hands.
