Slovenia's Jan-May new car registrations up 4% - ACEA

June 20 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Slovenia rose by 4.0% on the year in the first five months of this year, to 23,554, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said on Thursday, quoting provisional figures.

In the period under review, petrol remained the most popular fuel type for newly-registered cars in Slovenia, with 14,807 cars, followed by diesel cars (4,167) and hybrid electric cars (2,492), ACEA said in a statement.

The highest annual rise, of 16.4%, was reported for petrol car registrations, followed by a 4.9% growth of diesel car registrations. Hybrid electric car registrations dropped 25.9%, while sales of battery electric vehicles (EV) fell 22.4% on the year to 1,424 ones.

According to ACEA, year-to-date car registrations in the European Union over the first five months of 2024 increased by 4.6% to 4.6 million units.

New passenger car registrations in Slovenia rose 5.3% on the year to 48,809 in 2023, ACEA said earlier.
