October 2 (SeeNews) - Romanian electricity and gas distribution company Delgaz Grid said on Wednesday it will invest 31 million lei ($71 million/65 million euro) to modernise five transformer stations in Vaslui county.
Out of the total investment in the project, 19.5 million lei will come from EU funds, 3.5 million lei from Romania's national budget and 8 million lei from the company's own funds, Delgaz Grid said in a press release.
The transformation stations are located in Husi, Stanilesti, Vetrisoaia, Falciu and Murgeni.
The works will take four years and will increase power supply security by reducing the number of interruptions and achieving lower maintenance costs for the distribution grid.
At the same time, the quality of the distribution service will be improved for over 40,000 customers.
Delgaz Grid, a company of Germany's E.ON group, operates a natural gas network of over 22,650 km and an 81,500 km electricity grid in northern Romania.
Since 2005, E.ON has invested about 1.6 billion euro ($1.8 billion) in the modernization of gas and electricity grids in Romania and paid over 2 billion euro in taxes.
Last year, Delgaz invested 487 million lei in the modernisation of the electricity and gas networks.
