March 23 (SeeNews) - Finnish fast food chain Hesburger said on Friday it is opening nine new restaurants in Bulgaria - in the cities of Plovdiv and Sliven and in the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach, as well as along major roads in the country.
This year, the company intends to invest between 6-7 million euro ($7.4-8.6 million) in Bulgaria, Hesburger said in a statement on Friday.
The new restaurants will be opened within the next few weeks. Seven of the new locations previously operated under the Burger King brand, according to the statement.
"The Bulgarian market has the right size for us. This year, we want to encourage more people to try our products and improve the brand awareness as well as people's interest towards our brand," Ieva Salmela, Hesburger's international development and marketing director.
Within the next 10 years, the company is planning to invest up to 35 million euro in opening 50 new restaurants in the country.
Hesburger operates over 450 restaurants located in nine European countries. In 2017, the company's sales revenue amounted to over 304 million euro.
