August 12 (SeeNews) - The European Commission said that it has agreed memoranda of understanding (MoU) on COVID-19 macro-financial assistance (MFA) programmes with eight enlargement and neighbourhood countries, including Albania, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
Kosovo, Moldova and North Macedonia have already signed the MoUs, while negotiations of a MoU with Bosnia are still underway, the Commission said in a statement on Tuesday.
The agreements are part of the European Union's 3-billion-euro ($3.5 billion) financial package for ten enlargement and neighbourhood partners, aimed to address the region's immediate health needs arising from the coronavirus pandemic and help with its social and economic recovery.
The package foresees 180 million euro in support for Albania, 100 million euro for Kosovo, 100 million euro for Moldova, 60 million euro for Montenegro and 160 million euro for North Macedonia.
