July 12 (SeeNews) - Croatian electric car maker Rimac Automobili said on Tuesday its first full production version of electric hypercar Nevera has rolled off its production line in the Croatian capital Zagreb.
“After five years of development and testing, three generations of powertrain technology, 18 prototypes, 45 physical crash tests and more than 1.6 million collective hours of research and development, the very first full production version of the Rimac Nevera has rolled off Rimac’s new production line,” the company said in a press release.
Hand-building of the Nevera will continue at a rate of up to 50 units each year. The first year of Nevera production is already sold out.
Each Nevera takes five weeks at the final assembly line. The first cars will soon be delivered worldwide through Rimac Automobili’s global network of 25 official dealer partners in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The cars are assembled in the Jankomir facility in Zagreb. Later on, the Nevera production will be relocated to the 100,000 square metres Rimac Campus which is under construction in Sveta Nedelja near Zagreb.
Earlier this month, Rimac Automobili said it could start deliveries of Nevera to US buyers following respective regulatory approvals.
Last month, Rimac announced that Nevera received the final approvals from the European Union and that the first cars will be delivered to customers within the next couple of months.
At the beginning of June, Rimac Group said it raised 500 million euro ($503 million) in Series D financing, valuing the company at over 2 billion euro, with Mate Rimac remaining the largest shareholder. The funds will be primarily used to further develop its fully-owned technology arm Rimac Technology as it commences large-volume series production for global original equipment manufacturers, using the expertise gained from developing the Nevera hypercar.
The Rimac Group is the majority shareholder in ultra-luxury and high-performance hypercar manufacturer Bugatti Rimac, with a 55% stake. German sports car maker Porsche owning the remaining 45%.
In November 2021, Rimac successfully completed the merger of Rimac’s hypercar division – Rimac Automobili – with Bugatti Automobiles. Both brands now operate under the Bugatti Rimac company.
