Albania’s Q2 power output falls

TIRANA (Albania), August 26 (SeeNews) – Albania's electricity production decreased to 1,188 GWh in the second quarter of 2020 from 1,280 GWh in the same period of last year, the country's statistical office said.

Albania's power exports rose to 224 GWh from 142 GWh in April-June 2019, whereas imports slightly fell to 681 GWh from 683GWh, INSTAT said in a statement on Tuesday.

Some 51.1% of the country's electricity production in the second quarter of 2020 was generated by independent power producers, 48.1% by public hydro plants and 0.8% by other producers.

Grid losses decreased by 13.4% year-on-year to 311 GWh in the second quarter. Distribution losses fell to 273 GWh from 316 GWh, while transmission losses narrowed to 38 GWh from 43 GWh.
