April 20 (SeeNews) - German-owned car parts supplier TRW Automotive will close its steering wheel factory in Baia Mare, in northern Romania, news agency Agerpres reported on Friday.
The closure will lead to the loss of some 194 jobs, the Romanian news agency quoted the director of Maramures county employment agency, Oana Osanu, as saying.

The decision comes after TRW Automotive lost some contracts on foreign markets.
"In the shortest time we will try to support them in order to find a job," Osanu said. The redundant workers will benefit from re-training courses and will be directed to other companies.
In 2013, TRW Automotive opened its factory in Baia Mare, where it produces steering wheels for Volkswagen, Fiat and Ford. TRW started operations in Romania in 2004.
In addition to Baia Mare, TRW has four more sites, located in Marghita, northwestern Romania and the western cities of Timisoara, Oravita and Lupeni, employing a total of around 3,400 people.
In 2015, US automotive supplier TRW was bought by German group ZF Friedrichshafen for $12 billion (9.7 bllion euro).
