January 18 (SeeNews) - Serbian gas monopoly Srbijagas and Russia’s Gazprom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a project for the expansion of the capacity of the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage facility by 300 million cubic metres to 750 million cubic metres and doubling of the maximum withdrawal capacity up to 10 million cubic metres per day, Gazprom said.
The MoU sets the main parameters of the planned expansion and enshrines the agreement between the two companies on the joint implementation of the project, Gazprom said in a statement late on Thursday.
The document was signed by the head of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, and Gazprom board chairman Alexey Miller. The signing ceremony was attended by Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic and visiting Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Gazprom said it delivered 2.15 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Serbia last year, up 1.2% over 2017.
