August 31 (SeeNews) - Romanian fast food chain Sphera Franchise Group [BSE:SFG] opened a new KFC restaurant in the city of Alba Iulia following a 500,000 euro ($543,250) investment, it said on Thursday.
Located in Carolina Mall, this is the 101st KFC restaurant in Romania and the second one in Alba Iulia, the company said in a filing to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Earlier this week, Sphera Franchise Group announced that it swung to a net profit of 19.4 million lei ($4.3 million/3.9 million euro) in the first six months of 2023, from a net loss of 8.7 million lei in the same period of 2022.
Also this week, Romanian electronics retailer Altex said that it will inaugurate a new store in the Carolina Mall Alba of Alba Iulia.
Sphera Franchise Group operates a total of 179 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants in Romania, Italy and Moldova. The group employs some 5,000 people.
Blue-chip Sphera Franchise Group's shares traded 2.21% lower at 19.95 lei ($4.39/4.03 euro) as of 1229 CET on Thursday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
