April 27 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's net electricity production increased by 16% month-on-month to 1,223 GWh in March, while total electricity consumption grew 9% on the month, the statistical office said.
In annual terms, the country's power output was down 8%, while total consumption went up 2%, the office of statistics said in a statement earlier this week, citing provisional data.
The March output of the country's hydropower plants decreased 45% on the year and went up 2% on a monthly comparison basis to 193 GWh.
The output of the thermal power plants in Slovenia totalled 491 GWh in March, up 12% on the year and 30% month-on-month, while the production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, went up 10% on the year and fell 1% month-on-month to 510 GWh.
In March, Slovenia imported 741 GWh of electricity and exported 677 GWh. Imports fell 10% compared to the previous month, while exports decreased 2%.
On an annual comparison basis, imports went up 20% and exports declined 1%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 41.7% in Slovenia's total power production in March, followed by thermal energy with 40.1%, hydro energy with 15.8% and solar and wind with 2.4%.
