November 18 (SeeNews) - Slovenian company Geoplin said it has signed a deal with Algerian state-owned oil company Sonatrach on deliveries of natural gas, an important step towards the diversification of the Alpine country's gas procurement.
Geoplin and Sonatrach concluded an agreement on the supply of natural gas from January 1, 2023 until December 31, 2025, Geoplin said in a press release earlier this week.
Details about the price of the deal or the volume of the contracted gas supplies were not disclosed.
However, according to Slovenian media reports, the contract envisages the purchase of 300 million cubic meters of natural gas annually, enough to cover about a third of Slovenia's needs.
The transfer of natural gas from Algeria to Slovenia will take place via gas pipelines via Tunisia, the Mediterranean Sea and Italy up to the entry point in the Slovenian gas pipeline system Gorica – Sempeter, Geoplin said.
