April 27 (SeeNews) - The deliveries of Russian natural gas to Slovenia are unaffected by a halt in supplies to Bulgaria and Poland earlier on Wednesday, Slovenian media reported, quoting sources from the country's wholesale gas supplier Geoplin.
In response to EU sanctions imposed on Russia in the wake of the Ukraine invasion, Gazprom earlier on Wednesday stopped gas deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria and said they will not resume until payments are received in Russian rubles, instead of US dollars.
Natural gas is flowing into Slovenia in line with Geoplin's agreements with Russia's Gazprom, news agency STA quoted sources from Geoplin as saying.
Slovenia uses about 800 million cubic metres of natural gas annually and imports most of it from Russia through the Baumgarten hub in Austria.
Earlier on Wednesday, Austrian chancellor Karl Nehammer said Russian natural gas deliveries to Austria are continuing as usual.
