LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 17 (SeeNews) – Slovenian car upholstery manufacturer Boxmark Leather, a unit of Austria's Boxmark, plans to lay off another 350 workers by the end of September, after already dismissing some 300 employees earlier this year, local media reported.
The management informed the trade unions about its plans earlier this week, state broadcaster RTV Slovenija reported on Thursday.
The layoffs are a result of the coronavirus crisis and a drop in orders from the automotive industry, the report said.
The head of the company, Marjan Trobis, was quoted as saying that Boxmark is faced with a 40% drop in orders from the automotive sector and an 80% decline in orders from the aviation industry.
Boxmark Leather employs some 2,000 in Slovenia.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Boxmark has units in Bosnia and Croatia.
