April 5 (SeeNews) - Serbia's budget balance showed a surplus of 22.2 billion dinars ($211.4 million/188.2 million euro) in the first two months of 2019, compared to a surplus of 18.5 billion dinars in the prior-year period, according to finance ministry data.
Primary budget surplus increased to 54.6 billion dinars in January-February from 42.4 billion dinars in the respective period of last year, figures posted on the website of the finance ministry show.
Total budget revenues grew by a real 16.9% on the year, reaching 207 billion dinars in the period under review, while expenditure also increased 16.5% year-on-year to 184.8 billion dinars.
Tax revenues rose by a real 15.5% to 181 billion dinars, non-tax revenues went up 26.8% to 25.1 billion dinars, and grants increased 53.1% to 868.6 million dinars in the first two months of 2019.
On the expenditure side, current expenditure grew by a real 15.2% to 168.1 billion dinars, while capital expenditure soared to 15.5 billion dinars from 9.3 billion dinars in January-February 2018.
In February alone, Serbia reported a budget deficit of 1.4 billion dinars, based on revenues of 100.4 billion dinars and expenditure of 101.8 billion dinars. The primary surplus totalled 22.6 billion dinars.
Serbia's budget balance showed a surplus of 32.2 billion dinars in 2018, compared to a surplus of 33.9 billion dinars in the previous year.
