August 8 (SeeNews) - Serbia will complete several major infrastructure projects by the end of the year, including the construction of the eastern and southern branches of Corridor 10 and the 103 km motorway stretch between Obrenovac and Cacak, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Wednesday.
"Projects that are being completed after several decades show that Serbia still has high quality companies, good workers and engineers and capable managers in the construction industry," Mihajlovic said in a statement.
In the next five years, Serbia will engage in the construction of the motorway linking Nis and Merdare, the Preljina-Pozega section of the Corridor 11, the Fruska Gora and Moravian corridors, as well as the motorway and expressway project connecting Ruma, Sabac and Loznica, and the circular highway between Belgrade and Sarajevo, Mihajlovic noted.
The country will also continue the reconstruction of the railway section of Corridor 10 on its territory.
"Serbia will continue to build and connect with its neighbors and it needs a strong construction industry and reformed public enterprises in order to respond to the challenges that lie ahead," the infrastructure minister said.
In the first half of 2018, the value of construction works in Serbia expanded 25% and contributed the most to the country's GDP growth of 4.5% during that period.
