BELGRADE (Serbia), June 22 (SeeNews) – Serbia is interested in launching imports of crude oil from Iran and participating in the overhaul of thermal power plants in the Asian country, Serbia's economy minister Aleksandar Antic said on Friday.
Potential cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector is also on the table for discussion, Antic said after a meeting with Iranian industry minister Mohammad Shariatmadari in Belgrade, according to a video file posted on the website of Tanjug news agency.
The Iranian government plans to invest a total of $1.2 billion (1 billion euro) in the modernisation of the country's industry and Serbia is willing to see its companies participating in the process, Antic said.
"Expert teams from Serbia and Iran will discuss potential cooperation and we will meet again in September to coordinate our future steps," Shariatmadari said.
Serbia's government said on Thursday it signed an air traffic agreement with Iran, laying the basis for future commercial cooperation between flag carriers Air Serbia and Iran Air.
