Transelectrica is seeking energy sales offers comprising power band profiles in the range of 15 – 25 MW, it said in a statement. The grid operator intends to buy the electricity through bilateral sale contracts which will cover its technical power losses in 2025.

Technical power losses represent the difference between the amount of electricity entered into the transmission network and the amount of electricity output from the same network. Technical power losses include OTC, which is the energy consumed during the physical transport process of electricity through the network, and commercial losses, such as those caused by differences in reading and data measurement and human errors.

The energy offers, which will be evaluated on the 'lowest price' basis, can be sent in by July 11.

In the first quarter of 2024, Transelectrica booked a net profit of 103 million lei ($22.4 million/20.7 million euro), up by an annual 29%, on revenue of 532 million lei, the company said in a financial report filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange in May.

Transelectrica's shares traded 5.86% higher at 47 lei as at 1516 CET on Friday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
