February 19 (SeeNews) - Romanian seamless pipe manufacturer Silcotube said on Monday it has started the construction of a 19.8 MW solar power plant in the south-eastern county of Calarasi.
The project is worth 96.9 million lei ($21 million/19.5 milion euro), including almost 29.1 million lei in a non-reimbursable grant from Romania's National Recovery and Resililence Plan (NRRP) and the rest is the company's own contribution, Silcotub said in a press release.

The construction is planned to take twelve months, until December. The new power plant will be reducing greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 18,971 equivalent tonnes of CO2 per year.
The installed solar power plant will have a nominal power of 19.8 MW and an installed capacity of over 21.2 MWp. It will generate over 30,700 MWh per year of total electricity from renewable sources, or 614,260 MWh over a span of 20 years.
Silcotub is a Romanian producer of small diameter seamless pipes. The company is present in nine cities in Romania and operates fully integrated production units, from the collection and preparation of scrap metal, to steelmaking and the production of high value-added tubular products. Since 2004 it has been part of the Luxemburg-headquartered manufacturer and supplier of steel pipes and related services Tenaris.
