Romania’s Orsova shipyard signs 1.6 mln euro deal with local client

December 8 (SeeNews) - Romanian shipyard Santierul Naval Orsova [BSE:SNO] said it has signed a 1.55 million euro ($1.63 million) contract, VAT excluded, with local company Black Sea Offshore Centre (BSOC) for the construction and delivery of a non-propelled pontoon technical river vessel.

Santierul Naval Orsova must build and deliver the ship to the buyer by April 1, the shipyard said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

Under the contract, Black Sea Offshore Centre must make an advance payment, with the full amount to be delivered upon the ship’s arrival at the place of delivery.

In February, the Orsova shipyard signed two contracts with a total value of 6.3 million euro for the delivery of river vessels to Dutch company Gebr.DE JONGE Shipbuilding Services B.V.

BSOC provides integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services to marine and offshore industries, particularly in Europe.

Transilvania Investments Alliance is Santierul Naval Orsova’s main shareholder, with a 49.99% stake, followed by SIF Oltenia with 28.02%, SIF Muntenia with 13.17%, and other shareholders with the remaining 16.46%.

In 2021, Santierul Naval Orsova booked a net profit of 153,870 lei (31,283 euro/$32,853) and turned over 74.4 million lei while employing 359 people, data from the finance ministry’s website shows.

Santierul Naval Orsova shares traded 0.85% higher at 5.95 lei as of 1014 CET on Thursday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
