February 2 (SeeNews) - Romanian majority state-owned hydro power producer Hidroelectrica said that its shareholders approved the acquisition of the 108 MW Crucea wind farm from German energy group STEAG.
The general shareholders meeting approved the takeover of shares owned by STEAG GmbH si STEAG 2 Beteiligungs GmbH in Crucea Wind Farm and Steag Energie Romania, Hidroelectrica said in a press release on Monday.

"The acquisition confirms our objective to diversify the company's portfolio and make green energy a unique development priority," Hidroelectrica CEO Bogdan Badea said, adding, "We want Hidroelectrica to remain a 100% green company."
On January 5, Romania's competition authority announced that it is looking into the deal in order to determine whether the concentration is compatible with a normal competitive environment.
The deal was jointly announced by STEAG and Hidroelectrica at the end of December.
Located in Constanta county, Crucea wind farm was developed by STEAG and commissioned in 2014.
Hidroelectrica is 80.06%-owned by the Romanian state and investment fund Fondul Proprietatea holds 19.94%. The company has 209 hydro power plants with a total installed capacity of 6,482 MW in its portfolio.
