March 24 (SeeNews) - Romanian carmaker Dacia, a unit of France's Groupe Renault, will suspend production for seven days next month due to a worldwide shortage of semiconductors, local media reported on Wednesday.
The company's plant in Mioveni, Arges county, will suspend production on April 1, 2, 16, 26, 27, 28 and 29, local news agency News.ro quoted union leader at Dacia, Viorel Ungureanu, as saying.

Out of 14,000 employees at Dacia, some 9,000 will be affected by the production stoppage and will be paid with 85% of their daily salary during the seven days, Ungureanu added.
Dacia stopped production in Romania for a few days in February due to the global shortage of semiconductors. At the end of February, the Romanian unit of Ford Motor Company too stopped production at its plant in Craiova for eight working days for the same reason.
Ever since late last year, carmakers' operations have been affected by the shortage of semiconductors, as global manufacturers mainly supply producers of smartphones, tablets and gaming devices, according to international media reports.
