October 17 (SeeNews) - Romania's municipality of Cluj-Napoca has resumed a tender for the design and execution of the city’s metro line after increasing the value of the contract by 36% to 9.06 billion lei ($1.8 billion/ 1.83 billion euro), according to a notice in Romania's electronic system for public procurement, SEAP.
Some 8.6 billion lei of the total sum will be allocated for the construction of the subway line while the remainder will be used to finance necessary design and technical assistance services, Cluj-Napoca municipality said in a tender notice update published on SEAP on Friday.
The deadline for submitting offers for the 8-year contract is October 28.
On Wednesday, the government announced it has approved the project's new technical and economic indicators, adjusted to reflect higher costs.
The tender was launched in March and suspended in August after interested parties said the contract's initial estimated value was too low, Cluj-Napoca mayor Emil Boc said at the time, according to local newspaper Ziua de Cluj.
The metro line will span over 21 km, with 19 underground stations and one above-ground depot.
